Town Undertakes Railroad Avenue Repaving Project

New Cassel, NY - Supervisor Jon Kaiman and Councilman Robert Troiano announced recently the beginning of the road-resurfacing project for Railroad Avenue in New Cassel. The project, which began this month, is part of a continued effort by the town to improve roads throughout North Hempstead. 

“Projects such as this one on Railroad Avenue do an important task in maintaining our roads and infrastructure,” said Councilman Troiano. “Completion of this project will make it easier for residents to access to Bunk Reid Park. I would also like to thank the employees of the Town’s Highway Department for their hard work and dedication.”

Councilman Dwyer Meets with Girl Scouts for Town Hall Meeting

East Williston, NY – North Hempstead Councilman Tom Dwyer met with Girl Scout Junior Troop 1825, from Willets Road and North Side Schools in the East Williston School District, on Friday October 20 th . Councilman Dwyer spoke to the junior troops, and held an educational mock town board meeting for them. 

“In a country where the 18-25 year old voter turnout is continually troubling, it is imperative we make an effort to educate people at a young age. Studies show that the younger children begin to understand the functions of government and how it works; the more likely they are to become educated life long voters.”

Port VFW Fixing Roof with Town’s Help

Port Washington , NY - Supervisor Jon Kaiman and Councilman Fred Pollack recently presented members of the Port Washington VFW Henderson-Marino Post 1819 with a check in the amount of $5,000. The money, which was approved unanimously by the Town Board last year, will help offset the cost of repairs to the VFW Post’s roof. In appreciation of the Town’s support Post Commander George Balluff presented Supervisor Kaiman with a VFW Booster pin, the first ever awarded by the post.

 

North Hempstead Introduces Project Independence

Town’s New Program a First for State Suburban Communities

New Hyde Park, NY - Supervisor Jon Kaiman, Councilman Tom Dwyer, State Senator Michael Balboni, and State Assemblyman Tom DiNapoli announced today that the Town of North Hempstead will be the first suburban municipality in New York State to offer a new program called Project Independence, a new initiative designed to help senior residents remain active members of the community. The Town has partnered with FEGS Health and Human Service System, one of the largest not-for-profit human service agencies, North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System and other local health care and social service providers to bring this project to the residents of North New Hyde Park.
