Town Hosts Fourth Annual Asian American Festival

Port Washington, NY– Supervisor Jon Kaiman and the North Hempstead Town Board are proud to host the fourth annual Asian American Festival, a celebration of the growing ethnic diversity within the Town of North Hempstead. The festivities will include cultural performances, folk art, and food unique to China, India, Japan, Korea and Pakistan.

The beach-front festival will be held on Saturday, May 18 at North Hempstead Beach Park, located on West Shore Road in Port Washington. The event will run from noon to 6:00pm.

“It is important to recognize the growing diversity within our Town,” said Supervisor Kaiman. “The Asian American Festival is a great way of learning about all the different cultures that make North Hempstead one of the best places to live in America.”

Featured performances and activities include K-pop, Bollywood and Chinese puppeteers. The festival will also showcase a traditional Japanese farmer’s market, Korean BBQ, as well as delicious cultural delights from across the Asian-Pacific countries.

“The Asian American Festival highlights the most entertaining cultural performances and the most delicious ethnic cuisine from several Asian cultures all at the beautiful North Hempstead Beach Park," said North Hempstead Asian American Festival committee member Sid Nathan. "This event is so much fun to attend and is a wonderful way to celebrate unity through diversity.”

The event sponsor is WAC Lighting, with media sponsors being the Pakistan Voice and the Chinese World Journal. Other co-sponsors are Kiss and Shanghai Commercial Bank.

A $5 per vehicle parking fee applies.
