Town of North Hempstead’s Annual Senior Halloween Dance Draws Full House
North Hempstead, NY— Joined by Supervisor Jon Kaiman, members of the Town Board and other Town of North Hempstead elected officials, hundreds of seniors flocked to Clinton G. Martin Park last Friday for the Town’s annual Halloween Monster Bash.
The Oct. 28 event, featuring food, music, games, dancing and a costume contest attracted a packed house of Halloween revelers parading in numerous guises, including court jesters, clowns, witches, skeletons and ghosts. They dined on a witches’ brew of pizza, coffee and assorted deserts including Halloween-themed cup cakes.
Declaring to the crowd that he was “dressed as a politician” in suit and tie, Supervisor Kaiman told them: “We have an obligation to help make our community better and you are the folks who have made North Hempstead one of the Best Places to Live in America. Thank you.”
Tarulata Mehta, who originally hails from India and now lives in East Hills, said she “came for the dancing and to just mingle with friends.”
Lilliam Barnola, the president of the Mineola Golden Age Club said she’s been a regular at the Town’s annual Halloween bash for years. “They are doing a fabulous job all around meeting the needs of seniors,” she said of the Town.
