North Hempstead Supervisor Jon Kaiman Announces Fourth Annual 'Kids Safety Day'
Event to Feature Music, Arts & Crafts, Educational Information for Children and Adults

North Hempstead, NYIn support of child safety awareness and education, Supervisor Jon Kaiman and the North Hempstead Town Board will be hosting the Fourth Annual North Hempstead Kids Safety Day featuring a host of demonstrations, special displays, face painting and arts and crafts. The free event for children of all ages will take place Tuesday, July 26 at the Mary Jane Davies Park in Manhasset from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

“Our commitment to child safety—a major concern in these times of cyber bullying and social media—rests on our strong belief that we can make safety education and awareness for our children both relevant and fun,” said Supervisor Jon Kaiman. “A collaborative effort, the event serves as a vehicle for demonstrating the notion that when local government partners with the community, we can play the role of the village it takes to raise our children safely.”

Children participating in the event will navigate a series of safety stations which will include an educational component. As always, there will be fun giveaways and the Manhasset Lakeville Fire Department will be on hand with a fire truck and smokehouse that children will have the opportunity to walk through.

The annual Kids Safety Day event focuses on educating kids about fire safety, beach and pool safety, the proper way to cross the street, the safe way to ride a bike, tips on how to safely use the internet, what to do when approached by a stranger, and much more.

The Mary Jane Davies Park is located across from North Hempstead Town Hall on Plandome Road in Manhasset.
