TOWN BOARD APPOINTS JERRY LANDSBERG AS COMMISSIONER TO GREAT NECK WATER POLLUTION CONTROL DISTRICT
Great Neck, NY– North Hempstead Supervisor Jon Kaiman and Councilwomen Maria-Christina Poons have announced that the Town Board, by a 7-0 vote at its September 4, 2007 meeting, appointed Jerry Landsberg of Great Neck as a Commissioner of the Great Neck Water Pollution Control District. Mr. Landsberg was appointed to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of former Commissioner David Laurie.
“The selection committee was thoroughly impressed with the candidates who presented themselves for consideration,” said Supervisor Kaiman. “As difficult a decision as it was, I have great confidence in the commitment and ability of the committee’s recommendation, Jerry Landsberg. He will be a tremendous asset to the district.”
Mr. Landsberg is a product of Dallas, Texas’ public schools and a graduate of Southern Methodist University. He has served as Trustee, Police Commissioner, Public Works Commissioner, Deputy Mayor and Acting Mayor of the Village of Kensington; Trustee and Financial Vice President of Temple Emanuel of Great Neck; Director, President and Board Chairman of the Great Neck Symphony Society; Trustee, Assistant Treasurer, Treasurer and presently Chairman of the Board of The Parker Jewish Institute for Healthcare and Rehabilitation; and Member and Chairman of the Adelphi University School of Nursing Advisory Board.
He is a Mason, Shriner and member of the Friars Club.
The new Commissioner has been honored by New York University, Hadassah, Temple Emanuel, the UJA Federation of Jewish Philanthropies, Southern Methodist University, Adelphi University, and the Forest Avenue High School Alumni Association.
