Front Yard Tree Removals in North Hempstead Require Permits

North Hempstead, NY – With the arrival of spring comes the start of residential yard maintenance season! Town officials are advising all residents located in the Town of North Hempstead to be aware of Town Code regulating tree removal when considering removing trees on your properties.

A permit MUST be obtained from the North Hempstead Building Department when removing a tree in your front yard which is 10 inches or greater in diameter. Please note, the removal of trees on private property that are not in the front yard does not require any permit. To get the permit process started, please call the Town at 516-869-6311.

Homeowners who are in the process of or considering removing trees in their front yards must be aware that 50 percent of the total tree diameter must be replaced.
