TOWN BOARD APPOINTS MATTHEW A. CUOMO TO NORTH HEMPSTEAD HOUSING AUTHORITY BOARD
Manhasset, NY (January 31) – North Hempstead Supervisor Jon Kaiman today announced that the Town Board, at its meeting held on January 30, 2007, in a unanimous, bipartisan decision (7-0) voted to appoint East Williston resident, Matthew A. Cuomo, to the Board of Directors of the North Hempstead Housing Authority.
“Matthew Cuomo is tenacious, smart and committed to fulfilling the mission of our Housing Authority which is to provide decent housing for the less fortunate among us,” said Supervisor Kaiman. “I offer my support and that of the Town to assist Mr. Cuomo and the rest of the Housing Authority Board in addressing the problems and issues that confront this Town’s Housing Authority population.”
“I am honored to have been appointed to the Housing Authority Board,” Said Cuomo. “I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Board, and I pledge my best efforts to achieve the Authority’s mission of providing safe, dignified and affordable housing.”
Mr. Cuomo is a partner in the law firm of Finder & Cuomo, LLP, and assumes his new position on the Board immediately. He received his B.A. and J.D. from St. John’s University, and was admitted to the practice of law in 1992. Mr. Cuomo and his family have resided in East Williston for 10 years.
The North Hempstead Housing Authority Board of Directors is comprised of 7 members, 5 of whom are appointed by the Town Board for 5-year terms and remaining two are tenant representatives elected by the tenants themselves for a 1-year term.
The North Hempstead Housing Authority, created under New York State Law, is responsible for six facilities throughout the Town: Laurel Homes in Roslyn, Pond View Homes in Manhasset, Spinney Hill in Great Neck/Manhasset, 155 East Shore Road in Great Neck, Harbor Homes in Port Washington, and Magnolia Gardens in New Cassel.
