North Hempstead Commended by Nat’l Park Service for Historic Preservation Efforts

North Hempstead, NY – The Town of North Hempstead was recently commended by the National Park Service and The State Historic Preservation Offices for its commitment to local historic preservation as a member of the Certified Local Government Program. The Program encourages the preservation, protection of unique cultural heritage found in the built environment across the country. The Town of North Hempstead has been a member of the Program since 1988.

In honor of the 50th anniversary of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, which created Certified Local Government with an amendment in 1980, the Town recently received a certificate of recognition for the Town’s prolonged participation and dedication to the program.
