Volunteers needed for Clark Garden Bird Count

North Hempstead, NY – Volunteers are needed at Clark Botanic Garden in Albertson for the North Shore Audubon Society Annual Christmas bird count which is taking place this Saturday, December 17 from dawn to dusk.

The Christmas Bird Count (CBC) is a long-standing program of the National Audubon Society, with over 100 years of citizen science involvement. It is an early-winter bird census, where thousands of volunteers across the US, Canada and many countries in the Western Hemisphere, go out over a 24 hour period on one calendar day to count birds. The data fuels important science and conservation work.

Volunteers do not need to stay the entire day. To sign up as a volunteer to participate in the bird count, please contact Parks Deputy Commissioner John Darcy at darcyj@northhempsteadny.gov

Clark Botanic Garden is located at 193 I.U. Willets Rd, Albertson. For more information, please call 311 or (516) 869-6311.
