Town to Consider Measure to Increase Parking for Main Street

Manhasset, NY – Supervisor Jon Kaiman and Councilman Fred Pollack announced today that the Town Board will be considering a measure to condemn the property at the corner of Main Street and Jackson Avenue in Port Washington for use as a public parking lot.

If passed the project would eliminate on street parking for the south side of Main Street, from Jackson Avenue up to the Bank. This would allow for the construction of a left turn lane that would significantly reduce the traffic that presently exists.

The hearing will be held at 7:30PM on November 14, 2006 at Town Hall, located at 220 Plandome Road in Manhasset. For more information please contact Councilman Pollack’s office at (516) 869-7711.
