TOWN OF NORTH HEMPSTEAD SPONSORS FLU AND PNEUMONIA VACCINE PROGRAM

New Hyde Park, NY – North Hempstead Supervisor Jon Kaiman and Councilwoman Lee Seeman announced today that the Town of North Hempstead is making flu and pneumonia shots available on November 9, 2006, from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM at Clinton G. Martin Park in New Hyde Park.

“I’m pleased that our Town will once again make flu and pneumonia shots available as we enter the flu season,” said Supervisor Kaiman. “The Town’s Department of Community Services has contracted with the North Shore – Long Island Jewish Health System to administer the shots and I encourage our residents to avail themselves of these preventive vaccines.”

In order to participate, residents should call (516) 869-7719 to register and schedule an appointment on the 9th.

Participants must be at least 21 years of age; there is no out-of-pocket fee for those with Medicare Part B; those who do not have Medicare Part B, including individuals who are over the age of 60, will be required to pay a fee of $25 for the flu vaccine and $30 for the pneumonia vaccine and ONLY cash or checks will be accepted.

“With Winter just over the horizon and the onset of the flu season around the corner, I encourage residents to protect themselves from the flu and pneumonia by taking preventive vaccines,” said Councilwoman Seeman.

Clinton G. Martin Park is located at the corner of Marcus Avenue and New Hyde Park Road in New Hyde Park.
