Bosworth Announces Launch of Revamped Town Website
New dynamic site re-formats for mobile devices

North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth announced today that the Town has launched a new website at www.northhempsteadny.gov. This is the first time that the Town’s website has been redesigned since 2009.

The new home of Town government on the web offers a sleek, modern look and features more than 600 pages of unique content, including a homepage highlighting the latest news, weather, events and videos, and with direct links to featured items such as 311 online, online tax payments, online forms, and much more. The custom search bar at the top of each page powered by Google allows users to find what they are looking for within the site easily.

“The internet and the commonplace use of mobile devices have transformed the way local governments can provide information and municipal services to residents,” Supervisor Bosworth said. “With that in mind, we are excited to launch our newly-redesigned website that allows for a more user-friendly experience while being more aesthetically pleasing and modern.”

According to several sources, mobile internet usage surpassed desktop usage in 2014, and is continuing to rise. In response to this trend, the Town’s new website will be dynamic in the sense that it will reformat for tablets and smartphones, allowing mobile users to access all of the same content and information that is available on a desktop.

The new site also offers links to the Town’s social media pages including Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, as well as a direct link to downloading the “My North Hempstead” mobile application, which is another way to access Town information and services through your mobile device.

The website will also include several features that promote transparency and open government, a primary goal of the Bosworth administration since the Supervisor assumed office in January 2014. On the homepage, the 311 Online icon will connect residents to a web portal allowing them to submit service requests online, and the OpenGovernment icon will permit residents to access North Hempstead’s budget in a user-friendly format. There is also a direct contact link for the Supervisor and Town officials on the homepage. A new function on the Town’s website will be the ability to translate the content to more than 50 languages on many portions of the website.

The website was designed by Qscend Technologies of Waterbury, Connecticut. To view it, log on to www.northhempsteadyny.gov. If you have any questions about the site, please e-mail feedback@northhempsteadny.gov or call 311.
