New LED Street Lighting Coming to the Salem Area in Port Washington
Installation expected to be completed by Dec. 31

Port Washington, NY – Holiday lights won’t be the only thing illuminating the Port Washington-area this December. North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and Councilwoman Dina De Giorgio have announced that the Town’s Department of Public Works will be installing 125 new light fixtures in the New Salem area of Port Washington that will provide a more reliable system and improve the lighting in the neighborhood.

This area, which is just east of Port Washington Boulevard, previously had old and unreliable incandescent lighting fixtures that were 180 watts each. The new light fixtures will be just 26 watts each and are expected to result in a reduction of PSEG electrical costs to the Town.

“Energy conservation is a key component of our environmental mission in the Town and this project certainly helps us to meet that goal,” Supervisor Bosworth said.

Councilwoman De Giorgio said, “I am pleased that the Town selected my district for this project. I look forward to implementing more energy saving strategies in the future."

Installation of all 125 new fixtures is expected to be completed by December 31.

Supervisor Bosworth and Councilwoman De Giorgio talks with Department of Public Works Commissioner Paul Di Maria near a newly installed light fixture at the corner of Salem Lane and Lowell Road.
