Councilman Peter Zuckerman Wins Special Election in 2nd District

North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Councilman Peter Zuckerman won a special election for the Town’s 2nd District Council seat on Tuesday by defeating his opponent after receiving 54% of the vote.

“I am overjoyed by tonight’s result,” Councilman Zuckerman said. “It is an honor to represent the people in the community in which you live, and I am thrilled to continue to be able to do so. As we move forward, I am eager to continue to work on several projects that are of great importance to the residents of my district.”

Zuckerman was appointed to the Town Board unanimously on January 28th, following the resignation of Tom Dwyer, and previously served 11 years as a trustee for the Village of East Hills. Zuckerman will serve this term through the end of 2015, and an election for a full four-year term will take place in November 2015.

“Councilman Zuckerman has been a wonderful addition to our Town Board over the past nine months and is an accomplished public servant for the residents of District 2,” Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth said. “I congratulate him on his victory and look forward to continuing to work with him and the rest of the Town Board as we collaborate to make North Hempstead a better place for all.”

The Town of North Hempstead’s 2nd Council district includes Albertson, East Hills, East Williston, Glenwood Landing, Greenvale, Herricks, Manhasset Hills, Roslyn Harbor, Roslyn Heights and Searingtown.

Zuckerman resides in East Hills with his wife and three children.
