Town Completes Reconstruction of Grand Boulevard in Westbury

Westbury, NY – Supervisor Judi Bosworth and Councilwoman Viviana Russell are proud to announce that road repaving has been completed on the one-mile long Grand Boulevard, a major thoroughfare in Westbury. This long-awaited project was completed in June by the Town¹s Highway Department.

“It has been a priority of mine to make necessary improvements in infrastructure across the Town in order to maintain safe and passable roadways for our residents,” Supervisor Bosworth said. “Grand Boulevard was certainly a priority.”

This project was included in the Town's 2014-2018 Capital Plan that was recently approved by the Town Board. The Town has been diligently working with NYS Department of Transportation (NYS DOT) to obtain approvals and funding of $1.2 million to complete a full in-depth reconstruction of the entire length of Grand Blvd. The recent repaving is an interim solution, until the Town receives full approvals from NYS DOT which may not be received until late this year.

"This project has been one of my primary goals since taking office," Councilwoman Russell said. "While we are awaiting approvals from NYS DOT, we recognized that there was an immediate and dire need to improve the conditions of the roadway. I have to thank our administration and the Town's Highway Department, for their great teamwork in getting this done for our residents."

Grand Boulevard runs from Old Country Road, north up until Cross Street.
