Town Presents $165,000 to Landmark on Main Street for Programming and Improvements

North Hempstead, NY – Supervisor Judi Bosworth, the North Hempstead Town Board, and the Town of North Hempstead’s Business and Tourism Development Corporation (BTDC) were proud to present a $165,000 check to the Landmark on Main Street in Port Washington on June 5th. The money presented will go toward sponsoring Landmark on Main Street’s upcoming programmingand performances as well as providing for capital improvements.

“Supporting Landmark on Main Street not only adds to the rich culture of our entire Town, but also gives the surrounding area an economic boost,” said Supervisor Judi Bosworth. “Landmark on Main Street and Port Washington make for a wonderful destination that offers visitors great entertainment and a warm and hospitable downtown environment.”

The Town of North Hempstead will be contributing $150,000 to Landmark on Main Street for capital improvements. This will include a new stage, movement of stage lights and purchase of new house lights. These improvements will begin during the summer and will help kick off the new season of performances on October 11th.

The Town’s Business and Tourism Development Corporation will be providing $15,000 to Landmark on Main Street for programming. This will make the Town a partner of performing arts for the upcoming season.

Sharon Maier-Kennelly accepted the check on behalf of Landmark on Main Street along with Director of Development, Ilene Silberstein.

"Landmark on Main Street is so grateful for the Town of North Hempstead's support,” Maier-Kennelly said. “Thanks to the Town's generosity as a true Partner in the Performing Arts, we are able to offer diverse and exciting programming each season. We can't wait to invite our community back next fall to enjoy the Phase I enhancements in our beautiful theater made possible by the Town's support for capital improvements!"

Landmark on Main Street is a not-for-profit community center that works to engage and enrich the lives of residents in the local communities and Port Washington area through concerts, speaking engagements, dance performances, and performing arts.
