REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS ISSUED FOR REDEVELOPMENT OF FOUR SITES

 

Seeking to capitalize on its success in designating developers for eight sites, the Agency, in cooperation with the Town of North Hempstead, issued a request for proposals for four more sites in the New Cassel Urban Renewal Area.  The sites are:

 

  • Site I, an approximately 37,000 square foot site located at 335 and 336 Rose Place and 275 and 276 Sohmer Place, where the Agency is seeking to have 6 two-family townhouses developed.

 

  • Site J, an approximately 9,700 square foot site located at the northeast corner of Prospect Avenue and Hopper Street in an area zoned for residential use.

 

  • Site K, an approximately 5,000 square foot parcel on which the Agency is seeking to have a single family home with 3 bedrooms built.

 

  • Site L, an approximately 20,700 square foot site located on the north side of Prospect Avenue between Brooklyn Avenue and State Street, which the Agency is seeking to have redeveloped as ground floor retail space with residential ownership opportunities above the ground floor.

 

In submitting proposals for the development of Sites I, J and L, developers should take into account the acquisition costs for the portions of those sites which CDA intends to acquire by eminent domain.  The developer will be required to pay for all acquisition costs incurred for the lots that must be acquired by eminent domain.

 

The final date for the receipt of proposals was September 29, 2005.  The Agency is in the processing of reviewing and evaluating the proposals submitted.
