3/6/2015 - LIRR Port Washington and Manhasset Soil Remediation Project

It recently came to our attention that the Long Island Rail Road plans to conduct soil remediation projects at several locations in the Town of North Hempstead. I have expressed my dismay to LIRR officials that this project was only brought to my attention following a Newsday article.

These clean-ups-at the LIRR substation in Manhasset and Port Washington-are coordinated with the New York State Department of Environmental Control. I am making the DEC Fact Sheets about this project available here on our website (see link below) so that you can be better informed about what these projects entail.

I have asked LIRR officials to please contact my office immediately when any future projects are scheduled that affect the Town of North Hempstead and its residents. If you have any further questions, please call 311.

Sincerely,
Judi Bosworth, Supervisor
