Councilwoman De Giorgio and others look on as one of the first participants in the 37th Annual Port Washington Thanksgiving Day Run crosses the finish line. Over 2,600 runners were present for the “Turkey Trot,” as it is better known to locals, which was held on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22.

North Hempstead Councilwoman Dina De Giorgio (3rd from left), Legislator Wayne Wink (3rd from right), Port Washington Chamber of Commerce Officer Mitch Schwartz (far left), and representatives from Cord Meyer Development recently attended the groundbreaking for the Knickerbocker at Manhasset Bay. The new 32-unit age-restricted condominium, soon to be built on the Manhasset Bay, will replace the recently-demolished Knickerbocker Yacht Club. Construction is expected to take 18 months.

Councilwoman De Giorgio and other members of the North Hempstead Town Board paid tribute to the champion Red Devils Swim Team at a Town Hall reception. “I’m happy to have the opportunity to recognize this team,” exclaimed Councilwoman Dina De Giorgio. “I look forward to seeing the plaque hanging in the Manorhaven Pool,” she said, referring to the certificate of recognition, achievement, and appreciation awarded to the team by Supervisor Kaiman and the Town Board.

Councilwoman Anna Kaplan, community member Joel Ziev, Councilwoman Dina De Giorgio, and Town Clerk Leslie Gross recently attended the Town of North Hempstead’s 8th Annual Kayak Run. Starting at the North Hempstead’s Town Dock, the event required participants to paddle at their own pace to as many as possible of the designated locations around Manhasset Bay, where they collected raffle tickets. The event was a huge success, with an estimated 80 kayaks participating. All proceeds collected went to the Community Chest of Port Washington and its 24 member agencies.

The Councilwoman spoke at Boy Scout Troup 71 of Plandome's Eagle Court of Honor Ceremony on Saturday, June 16. She presented the Scouts with Certificates of Recognition from the Town of North Hempstead and commended them for receiving the Eagle Scout honor - the highest badge of achievement for a Boy Scout.

Dina participated in an Eagle Scout project guided by Port Washington resident David Wolmark at North Hempstead’s Senior Center in Port Washington. The Senior Center now boasts new vegetable gardens, and freshly-mulched, replanted flower beds. The June 2 project was accomplished with the help of Wolmark’s peers from Boy Scout Troop 7 of Port Washington.

Councilwoman De Giorgio, Nassau County Legislator Wayne Wink, and Town Clerk Leslie Gross were among the thousands that attended the 1st Annual PortFest, held at Schreiber High School in Port Washington on May 19th. Much of the procedes from the festival went to raise money for the local arts.

The Councilwoman addressed a constituent at her town hall gathering, held at the Port Washington Library on May 1st. During the two-hour meeting, the Councilwoman fielded questions on a variety of issues, from tree plantings, to airplane noise, to the Town’s Buildings Department.

Councilwoman De Giorgio attended Vincent Smith School's 9th Annual Scholarship Fashion Show Brunch on Sunday, April 22, at the Westbury Manor in Westbury. Vincent Smith School is Long Island's premier independent school for reluctant learners and learning disabled students, and the Brunch benefited VSS' Scholarship Fund.
