Manager of TownStat The Town of North Hempstead seeks a manager for its ground-breaking TownStat performance management program. Working as a member of the Town’s newly created Internal Audit and Performance Management team, this position will conduct and coordinate data compilation, reporting and analysis for a wide variety of Town services, conduct regular briefings with departmental managers and the Town’s executive leadership, and make recommendations for enhanced and improved service delivery. North Hempstead TownStat is a performance management program modeled on the CitiStat system first introduced in Baltimore. The system is integrally linked to North Hempstead 311, a non-emergency governmental services contact center similar to those in place in many of the nation’s largest cities, including New York, Chicago, and Baltimore. North Hempstead is the first community to take this urban service delivery model and adapt it to a suburban, multi-jurisdictional governmental structure. Constituents contact the Town by calling 311, with each call received and logged into Motorola CSR software by a centralized call center. Requests for service are then distributed to departments for processing, with service delivery measured against applicable benchmarks. TownStat creates and produces regular reports on service delivery in the CSR system, as well as services which are provided and tracked outside the system. Successful candidates will have a Bachelors or advanced degree in Management, Political Science, Public Policy, Economics, Statistics, or a related field, broad familiarity with the use of Windows-based software and at least some exposure to advanced statistical programs, an ability to work well in a team-oriented environment, and a strong interest in government service.
