This office is a clearinghouse for information, recruitment and referral of volunteers. Nassau County residents are needed for voluntary assignments in a variety of non-profit agencies, social services, A. Holly Patterson Home, children's shelters, Red Cross, Consumer Affairs, schools for

Foster Grandparents
Enables low-income senior citizens age 60 and over, to assist children with special needs in hospitals and day care centers. Volunteers receive a nontaxable stipend, assistance with transportation, and an annual free physical examination. For more information call: (516) 572-0800.

Senior Community Service Employment Program
The Nassau County Department of Senior Citizen Affairs administers a federally funded employment program (Title V) for economically disadvantaged persons, age 55 or older, to work twenty hours per week in public or private non-profit agencies. The program provides on-the-job

Job Placement Service
This program offers free employment service to Nassau County residents age 55 and over. Persons seeking employment are assisted with resume preparation and placement counseling.
