Rocco Iannarelli, began his second term on January 1, 2008 as North Hempstead Receiver of Taxes. Since the start of his first term on January 1, 2004, Rocco had embarked on an ambitious effort to revitalize and modernize the Receiver of Taxes office. "I believe it is my responsibility to keep the property owners in our Town well informed as to all aspects of the taxes for which they are responsible." During his second term, Rocco wants to use all current technologies available to make the Tax Office available online 24/7 enabling property owners “the convenience to access any information they might need, whenever they might need it”. Rocco comes with an extensive background in both the private and public sector. In the private sector, Rocco was both President and Founder from 1991-1997 of one of the largest Kosher Food Distributors in the Metro New York area, culminating a twenty-year career in the retail food business. Simultaneously, he was a candidate for the New York State Assembly in 1994, and was elected to a four-year term as a Williston Park Village Trustee from 1998 - 2002. While serving in this elected capacity, he also entered into the public sector, working at the Nassau County Board of Elections. In January 2000, he was appointed and unanimously approved by both Democratic and Republican Legislators as the Clerk of the Nassau County Legislature, where he developed a reputation as a keen administrator with many governmental accomplishments to his credit. He also has served as Treasurer and financial advisor to the Nassau County Democratic Party. Since taking office, Rocco has installed an enhanced telephone system, implemented a simplified billing statement, created an annual tax payment recap for income tax preparation, modernized the office, and was the first in the state to create a Town Wide Electronic Star Eligibility notification system. In 2007 his office installed an electronic booking system, and implemented an Online Information and Credit Card Payment Option. Rocco and his wife, Jill, have been married 27 years and have lived in the Town of North Hempstead and the Village of Williston Park for the past 23 years. Their son, Andrew, is a recent graduate of the University of Scranton, and is a Client Service Representative for a regional bank. Rocco is involved in many civic initiatives in his community, and currently serves on the Williston Park Parking Committee, the Williston Park Rotary Club, and the Business Advisory Council for the Abilities Learning Center in Albertson. He was honored in 2007 as Person of the Year by the Colette Coyne Melanoma Awareness Organization. He believes what’s most important in his elected capacity is to be viewed as an honest and hard working public servant.
